with Neil Grant ADULTS
2-day workshop! Sat-Sun, Mar 10-11
Sculpture doesn’t have to be as intimidating as this guy! In this exciting and fun weekend workshop, the first in our 2018 Atelier Series, instructor Neil Grant will teach you to sculpt realistic portraits in a series of easy steps. Using a model and other materials as reference, you’ll learn how to look at a person, simplify what you’re seeing, and sculpt a realistic likeness.
Using Neil’s "Parking Lot Test" to establish the initial foundation of a sculpture, you’ll be led through a series of stages that add finer and finer levels of detail to the piece. At each stage, you’ll receive demonstrations and instruction before trying it yourself.
“Sculpting can be great fun but to get a realistic likeness, you need to learn a process. The aim of this workshop is to teach you that process in a series of logical steps. The atmosphere in the class is fun and friendly, but at the same time you’ll be learning solid techniques you can take away with you,” says Neil.
The model, clay, and sculpture stands are all included in the pricing. Tools will be provided but students are welcome to bring their own. Plan on bringing snacks/brown-bag lunch.
