Fabulous Floorcloth Painting

with Nancy Frary       ADULTS
4  classes, Tuesdays, Mar 20-Apr 10

Discover the art of floorcloth painting! Floorcloths were handcrafted in the 1700s and manufactured in the 1800s. They were originally made from old sails and covered the drafty wooden floors of New England homes up and down the coast.

Floorcloths have been rediscovered today as they provide an inexpensive, durable floor covering. To create our floorcloths, we will use an updated approach with heavy duty canvas and whimsical designs. In this workshop, you will create a painted floorcloth suitable for a kitchen mat, pet food bowl mat, or small entryway. Design ideas, canvas, and paints will be provided – use your imagination to create a colorful design accent for your home!
